Relationships
An in-depth analysis on how well Ryoko interacts with the other characters of the show.
Tenchi - This really, really goes without saying, but Ryoko is head-over-heels desperately and hopelessly in love with Tenchi Masaki, the story's main protagonist. At first, she was only interested in retrieving the gems Tenchi had (unknowingly) in his possession so she could fully tap into her powers and abilities. In fact, she took great pleasure in seeing that Tenchi was scared and uncomfortable with what powers she did harbor without the gems. But as time slipped by Ryoko's infatuation with the dense-about-love high school student deepened, and there was no looking back beyond the point of no return. Now, instead of torturing him or carelessly dragging Tenchi into dangerous scenarios, Ryoko takes great pride in protecting her love interest, even as far as to risk her own safety to ensure that he is alive and well.
Ayeka - This is another "DUUHHHH" relationship, but Ryoko and Ayeka seem to share a love-hate relationship: they love hating each other. Whether it's on the pages of the manga or the TV screen both young ladies go to great lengths to make sure the other is miserable as they fight and bicker for Tenchi's love. But I'm no fool! After witnessing the two join forces together when danger strikes, or even one comforting the other when times are tough, I know these two share a sisterly sort of relationship. Ayeka gets along swimmingly with Sasami, her true-blood younger sister, but as we all know theirs is not the typically sisterly sibling bond. Ayeka and Ryoko's constant arguing seems to fit the sister mold much better than the considerate and caring bond between Ayeka and Sasami. The moral of the story is that I think these two like each other more than they let on, and we all know that it will be a particularly cold day in hell before one confesses about caring for the other.
Sasami - Ryoko and Sasami seem to get along pretty well. Ryoko is known to tease everyone around her, whether she likes the person or not, and Sasami is no exception to the rule. It's mostly harmless fun. Their relationship is a little hard to determine, since their interaction is pretty limited unless under dire circumstances. I do believe though that Ryoko genuinely likes Sasami (especially her cooking) and harbors no ill will towards her.
Washu - Ryoko's creator/mother. Almost everything Washu does ticks Ryoko off, such as when Washu conducts her outrageous experiments or when she speaks in riddles. Washu's methods when it comes to interacting with other people may be unorthodox, which doesn't cool Ryoko's hostility towards her. But really the two share many personality traits, such as their teasing natures.
Mihoshi - Mihoshi absolutely annoys Ryoko; she doesn't seem to actually make Ryoko angry, it's strictly annoyance. Ryoko typically gets short with Mihoshi, such as her dense nature and inability to act like a grown woman in many situations. Really this could be due to the fact that Mihoshi is a Galaxy Police officer and Ryoko is an ex-space pirate, and the hostility Ryoko harbors for Mihoshi may be instinctual.
